Current Charity Project:

Rising Star Outreach helps the leprosy colonies in India become thriving, self sufficient communities through education, micro-finance and medical care. Their mission is to help the Leprosy colonies in India become thriving, self-sufficient communities. Leprosy (Hansen’s Disease) is a chronic bacterial disease of the skin and nerves in the hands and feet and in some cases, the lining of the nose. Leprosy can be spread to adults and children, but children are more susceptible. Historically, Leprosy has affected mankind since at least 600 BC, and was well-recognized in the civilizations of ancient China, Egypt and India. If caught early enough, Leprosy can be stopped before it ravages a body and ruins a life.

Our Goal is to raise $35,000 to help Rising Star Outreach

• First Goal :$15,000.00 to provide much needed Dental Care. And build a sewage system ***Goal Met**
• Second Goal: $20,000.00 to furnish the inside of Rising Star Outreach's new High School
  
  
  First off our attention will be to raise money for a Dental Clinic. Dental equipment is badly needed to treat the leprosy patients of India (some of whom desperately need to see a dentist for the first time in their lives!). If we can raise enough money, David's own personal dentist will take the equipment over to India , where they will leave it to benefit the patients for years to come.   Rising Star is building a boarding school so that the outcast children of the leprosy colonies have a safe place to live and learn. There are now over 200 children living on the property.
  

Rising Star’s work is the subject of an hour long PBS documentary entitled “Breaking The Curse,” produced by former CNN senior producer Brian Kosisky and narrated by former CNN anchor Daryn Kagan. In “Breaking the Curse,” Kosisky said he tried to capture the “profound” ways leprosy-affected people have been transformed by the works of Rising Star.

Angels for a Cause supports and encourages all fundraising efforts and we understand that fans may want to raise money for a different charity than our 'Focus Charity'. We applaud any and all fundraising efforts from any fan for any charity
