On March 2, 2009 something amazing happened .. my life changed forever.
I was sitting at my computer, recovering from major surgery, feeling sorry for myself, somewhat depressed, when I came across this amazing website called Angels for a Cause. I was actually doing a google search for upcoming David concerts since I fell in love with his music during American Idol and wondered if he was touring. I was directed to Archuleta Fan Scene which had a link to Angels for a Cause.. and the rest is history. On the front page of AFAC was a story about David's dentist and his upcoming trip to India with the hopes of performing much needed dental treatment on the children of Rising Star Outreach. Being in the dental field myself for the past 15 years, I could help with this! It was time to stop feeling sorry for myself and help others...and I've never looked back since!
Well, all good things must come to an end. On January 31,2012, the website Angels for a Cause will shut down. To be clear, my reasons for doing this has absolutely nothing to do with David's announcement about his upcoming mission trip This is something I have been thinking abour for quite some time. This particular site is difficult to navigate. It really was set up to be a social network of fans dedicated to raising money for charities that David supports and starting their own projects. Right now, it really isn't being used to its fullest potential. SO...
THIS IS WHERE THIS JOURNEY ENDS , BUT A NEW ONE IS ABOUT TO BEGIN....
Archuleta Fan Scene has asked me to join their team of amazing writers !!
I will continue to do charity projects with their assistance as well as post some inspirational post. Their site is so much more user friendly and easy to navigate. This truly is a blessing as I will be able to reach out to many more people through their very popular fan…

Hello, all!
.
I believe that this has crossed our minds before: How can I thank David for his music, for his kindness? Is there anything I can do?
.
As a big supporter and fan of David Archuleta, there’s always I want to do to just give back for everything I’ve gained from being a fan. I believe everything works both ways. I give when I gain, vice versa.
.
What’s the best gift a fan could give to David? Charity.
.
So to cut the story short, from where I want to feed my very hungry spiritual self and how I want us to do something beneficial other than just squealing/fangirling when it comes to David, or only having a gathering only when David’s coming to Singapore, I began to search for organizations who are accepting seasonal volunteers.
.
It was a couple days later that we found out that David’s going to India for his personal time, I was even more inspired by this man’s humility and compassion.
.
Finally! We got in contact with the Down Syndrome Association of Singapore (DSA), and we’ve organized a reading session with the children at a community library. Several hundred emails were sent back and forth, discussing possible activities, , etc.
.
Now that’s a pretty long introduction.
.
On 25 June, David Archuleta’s in Singapore (DASG) were at the Bishan Community Library for our first volunteering event.
.
It’s a two-hour long event, we read, assisted the…

A picture says a thousand words!!
Let me start by saying, I have met David numerous times at rushed meet n greets where I have 30 seconds to talk to him about various projects. This was the most relaxed meet n greet I had ever been to which was PERFECT because it made it less nerve wracking for me!!
Here's my story to all of you...the generous fans I did this for. My goal was for David to see just how special and successful this project was, all because of you guys!!
I will try to keep this short haha
It started out as a rainy 2 hour drive down to Delaware. On the way, I tested my phone to see if the twitvid worked by uploading a video of my adorable son at his ice skating lesson. Needless to say, doing this drained most of my battery!! So, when I was next in line to see David to talk to him, my phone died!! Thank gosh for @Maureen_abms who graciously took all these photos with her phone. There was not enough time to plan video. So, here's my conversation the best I remember it!
Me... (shaking of course) "Hi David...Im Wendy from Angels for a Cause (he's met me before but it had been a while)
David... (calm as could be lol) HI! HOW ARE YOU? (Im thinking he remembered me but I could be wrong)
Me..... Great! Our latest project was called Music for Smiles (as I start explaining the project David interrupts and says "Oh Yeah! I heard about that" (Whew..this means I dont need to explain everything lol)
Me again..... " Your fans donated over 1,000 CDs to over 90 Hospitals in the US and Canada" Here's his…

~ " Its not honest if you're not being sincere. Everything we do should be done without any expectation of gain. Simply, it should be done for the satisfaction of knowing we have done better for others" ~
David tweeted this quote recently and I just love the meaning behind it. The "Music for Smiles" is the perfect example of this quote. When I started this project, I was thinking maybe we will get 100-200 CDs gifted to the hospitals and I was just praying that each hospital would get at least one! We are up to over 800 CDs going to over 90 hospitals!! There are many that are getting over 10 and we still have some time left to reach our goal with each hospital being gifted minimum 10 CDs. This project was different from some past projects I have been involved in on AFAC as there were no incentives and no prizes given out (like the quote says.."no expectations" ) and the fans just became so generous to help bring a smile to many children's faces through David's uplifting, positive music. The amazing thing is this was all out of your giving hearts! Many times while calling the hospitals the person I was talking to would say "What do we have to do to get the CDs?" or "How much is this going to cost us?" I would tell them "Nothing. David's fans are so generous.. they will just start getting the CDs!" Many hospitals commented on the generosity of David's fans and it is very rare to have "free..no obligation" CDs sent to be gifted to children.
David has led by example saying many times how good it feels to do good things for others and that is what this project is all about. No fancy prizes, no signed auctions, just doing good because we care and want to represent…

Singing star David Archuleta is also involved with the organization. These pictures of the children, with the bears from the BEARING KINDNESS PROJECT, are just beautiful! Their happy smiling faces just are so heartwarming!! The bears were sent from fans for the BEARING KINDNESS PROJECT. Fans donated to have their signature written on an "Angels for a Cause" Bear. These bears, representing each section of the US and one International bear, were then sent to the children for their STAR STORE. The money that was raised was used to help furnish books for the library and items for the physics lab. Unfortunately, the project was not as successful as I had hoped, and there are not a lot of signatures. However, the International Bear is shown in the pictures, and you can even see the names. The other bears must still be in the store! Have a Happy Day!!! ------------------------------ Bearhugs!
